Blackberry VS iPhone,Android Outsells iPhone,Droid in smartphone sales for first quarter


Prepared by the NPD Group, the US consumer market research company, the report says Google’s Android operating system has shaken up the mobile phone market, moving past Apple to take the number two position among smartphone operating systems.

Google Operating system installed handsets even left behind Apple's iPhone in the quarterly sales. It is now in the second position among the best handset operating system. It has a share of 28 percent whereas Blackberry has a share of 36 percent which makes Google almost near to its competitor. Apple has a share of 21 percent.

NPD says the average selling prices for all mobile phones hit $88 during the first quarter, a 5 percent climb from the same period in 2009. But smartphones averaged $151, a 3 percent decline from the first quarter of last year.
